Oakmead Golf Course
Don’t forget to pack your golf clubs! Oakmead golf course, located adjacent to the park, features a well-presented 9-hole par 3 course with challenging holes suitable for all abilities. We offer equipment hire, so even if you didn’t bring your clubs, you can enjoy a round of golf. The golf course provides a beautiful and tranquil setting, with the option for children and dogs to enjoy a walk towards the Donkey Sanctuary fields, our Victorian reed bed, and bird hide along the northern boundary.
Pet-Friendly and Family-Oriented
At Oakdown, we are both family and pet-friendly. You’re welcome to bring your four-legged friends with dedicated dog walking areas around the park boundaries. Our family-oriented environment ensures that children have plenty to do with two play areas equipped with modern safety surfaces. They can enjoy climbing frames, swings, an embankment slide, and a fantastic play tower. Meanwhile, parents can relax and watch or even join in the fun.

You won’t need to travel far for delicious food. Oakmead Café serves a fantastic cooked breakfast, providing an excellent start to your day of exploration. Their menu also includes homemade pizzas, traditional gelato with frequently changing flavors, paninis, and other hot food. The café offers a wide selection of cold drinks and barista coffees.
The on-site shop is well-stocked and provides everything you might have forgotten to pack in your rush to arrive. You can even pre-order newspapers, croissants, fresh bread, and pastries, with daily deliveries to choose from. After all, you’re on holiday, so enjoy the experience!
Stay Connected with Oakdown’s WiFi
Oakdown offers a network of WiFi repeaters throughout the park. We’ve made a significant investment in this project to enhance your connectivity. Additional repeaters are being installed in areas with limited coverage, so be sure to check availability before purchasing a voucher. Due to our rural setting, signal strength can vary, but we’re committed to ensuring you have access to WiFi during your stay.
Pitch and Putt
Experience the joy of our 9-hole par 3 pitch and putt Oak Mead Family Golf course, located on Beech Grove side of the park, adjacent to the café and shop. Oak Mead has been designed as a family attraction, opened to the public in 2003. It’s family-friendly, and you can loan equipment from the café/shop along with a scorecard. While dogs can’t accompany you on the course, you can enjoy a leisurely walk on the field trail leading towards the Donkey Sanctuary fields on the northern boundary.
Our Victorian reed bed and bird hide can be reached via this path, offering an ideal spot for birdwatching. It’s a wonderful walk for children to run ahead and for dogs to be exercised on leads. Enjoy the serene surroundings and all the outdoor beauty Oakdown has to offer.
