Immerse Yourself in Nature at Black Mountain Caravan and Camping Park
At Black Mountain Caravan Park, we celebrate the beauty of nature in its raw and unspoiled form. Our commitment to preserving the natural landscape is evident in our little formal planting, allowing hedgerows to flourish and provide a haven for local wildlife and birds. Our serene park is a harmonious ecosystem where a plethora of species call home.
Encounters with Wildlife
- Hares: Rise early, and you may be treated to the delightful sight of a brown hare darting across our camping field, easily distinguishable from rabbits with its long legs and tall ears.
- Badgers: Keep an eye out for badgers along the lane, especially near the cattle grids. Nighttime or early morning strolls may reward you with glimpses of these elusive creatures. Don’t forget your flask and torch for memorable badger spotting.
- Flowers and Fruit: The hedgerows burst with an array of flowers, and if you look closely, you might even spot wild strawberries. Seasons bring a kaleidoscope of colors, from bluebells and primroses in spring to heather, berries, and changing foliage in late summer and autumn.
- Red Kites and Buzzards: Black Mountain is a birdwatcher’s paradise with a nearby Red Kite feeding station. Witness the majestic Red Kites and Buzzards soaring through the skies, often perched on telegraph posts.
- Diverse Birdlife: The park is a haven for bird enthusiasts, featuring Sparrowhawks, Goshawks, Merlins, Kestrels, Ravens, Osprey, Curlews, Woodcock, and more. Woodpeckers and a variety of finches, bluetits, nuthatches, and robins visit daily, adding to the enchanting birdsong that fills the air.
- Otters: Lucky visitors have reported spotting otters along the river at Llangadog, a short drive from the park.
- Wild Ponies: Watch wild ponies roam the common land between cattle grids. During the spring, foals make their debut, and we kindly request that dogs be kept on leads.
- Sheep: This sheep farming community shares the land, and you might encounter sheep on the mountain and common land. Be patient, especially when sheep are being herded, and exercise caution, particularly during lambing season.
- Aquatic Wonders: Our clear streams host a variety of aquatic life, from fish to frogs and tadpoles. In autumn, witness the fish leaping over rocks in a mesmerizing display.
At Black Mountain Caravan Park, we invite you to reconnect with nature and enjoy the wonders of the countryside. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast or simply seeking a peaceful escape, our park offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural world.
