Lucksall Caravan and Camping Park
Your Gateway to Natural Beauty in Herefordshire’s Wye Valley
Nestled in the serene Herefordshire countryside, Lucksall Caravan and Camping Park enjoys a prime location in the heart of the Wye Valley, designated as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.’ With its unique status as a ‘Dark Zone,’ our park offers starry night skies that will leave you in awe (don’t forget to pack a torch for your stargazing adventures).
Our park features flat, meticulously maintained grassland, bordered on one side by the majestic River Wye, and on the other, it’s enveloped by 200 acres of lush woodland. Here, you’ll find your own oasis of tranquility surrounded by a plethora of activities and places to explore.
Riverside Bar & Eatery (on-site)
Welcome to the Riverside Bar & Eatery, situated right within the Caravan Park. For inquiries, please call 07717 882899.
Indulge in a delightful selection of local ciders and ales while you relax by the enchanting River Wye.
River Access – Launching and Landing
Lucksall is ideally located alongside the picturesque River Wye, a haven for canoeists seeking to immerse themselves in abundant wildlife and scenic beauty. We offer two convenient access points to the River Wye. One is situated just behind the Riverside Bar & Eatery, and the other is at the lower end of the Caravan Park.
If you have your canoe, kayak, or paddleboard, feel free to bring them along. Guests are welcome to use our access points for launching and landing during their stay. Canoe hire is also available through external companies.
Explore the Abundant Wildlife and Woodlands
Lucksall’s prime location allows you to explore the idyllic Herefordshire countryside and relish the fresh air. Our park teems with wildlife, offering fantastic photography opportunities. Right across from the park lies Westwoods, a 90-acre woodland owned by Lucksall Park, preserved as a nature reserve for creatures like Buzzards, Squirrels, and Deer.
Adjacent to Westwoods, you’ll discover another 200 acres of woodland that leads to the charming village of Fownhope, where you’ll find two dog-friendly pubs: The New Inn and The Green Man. You can purchase maps of local walks at our reception or explore the following websites for more information:

Fishing Paradise
Lucksall is nestled along the banks of the renowned River Wye, providing an ideal setting for a relaxing day of fishing. The River Wye is hailed by many as one of the best unspoiled river fishing spots in the country. On a sunny day, you can stroll along the riverbanks and spot various fish species swimming in shoals or basking in the sunshine.
The River Wye offers diverse water courses, from fast-running, hard-bottomed riverbeds to slow, deep, silted sections, making it perfect for various fishing techniques and skill levels. Barbel fishing is particularly popular on the River Wye, with some specimens weighing in at double figures. Lucksall also boasts an excellent reputation for Pike fishing, with fish exceeding 30 lbs regularly caught.
Fishing on the River Wye is a truly magnificent experience, not just for the fish but also for the incredible wildlife that calls it home, from kingfishers and otters to curlews and swans. Please note that there is no disabled access to the riverbanks, and we do not provide fishing equipment. Always exercise caution, as the River Wye can have fast-flowing currents. Children must be supervised at all times.
Cycling Adventures
Many young adventurers love cycling around our park, and parents can rest assured thanks to our 5mph speed limit for vehicles within Lucksall. However, we recommend against cycling directly on the main road due to its speed limit and nature. Instead, a 5-minute drive away, you’ll find Haugh Woods, an 850-acre woodland with family-friendly cycling trails, including flat sections and a few short down/uphill routes.
Approximately 35 minutes by car is the Cannop Cycle Centre in the Forest of Dean, offering a safe, traffic-free environment for family cycling, from easy trails to thrilling downhill tracks. Dean Forest Cycles, just a 45-minute drive away, provides an excellent starting point for exploring the Forest of Dean.
Bikes are available for hire from Pedal a Bike Away and Dean Forest Cycles.
